Walk in the Park Pictures will be closing as an entity on April 15th, 2014. We have been honored to serve our audiences with high-quality productions for several years, and we look forward to new adventures!
All of the members of WitP continue their friendships, but have decided that they have divergent personal interests in moving forward with their careers.
Creative Director, Dan A. R.Kelly, will continue to develop productions. In addition to the feature films Susie's Hope (being distributed by Green Apple Entertainment) and Ocean Drive (in development with Fred Roos Productions), Dan has other scripts being represented by Grace Talent Organization in Los Angeles. Dan can be followed at:
Technical Director, Matthew Mandarano, has been working for Inmar, Inc. He also serves as a freelance cinematographer. Matthew can be followed at:
Artistic Director, Xoey HAWK, pursues her artwork, and her new website will be active soon!
Artistic Associates, Ben Pauly, Dale Walker and Shane D. Smith, have all been deeply involved in their careers and personal growth!
It has been a fantastic journey for all of us. We have grown together as artists and friends. Over the years, many of us have gotten married, had children and started new careers. We will always cherish our time in the park together.
Walk in the Park Pictures is proud to have expanded our audience with many screenings this past year. Although WitP had no new productions this year, its members were all busy with multiple projects, and we showed Walk in the Park films everywhere from Wilmington, NC (Cape Fear Independent Film Festival nominated "Eat Me!" for a Best Comedy award), to Buffalo, NY (Buffalo Screams! Film Festival nominated "Banks of the Vltava" for Best Special Effects); from Indiana to Montreal ("Banks of the Vltava" showed in both cities for the B-Movie Celebration).
Technical Director Matthew Mandarano has served as the Video/Web Specialist for Inmar, a digital networking firm. From internal tutorials to web-series and commercials for broadcast, Matthew manages all of their video productions. This year, Matthew was awarded a "Silver Davey"
award for a corporate image commercial that he shot and directed.
Artistic Associate Shane Smith continued pursuing his undergraduate degree in Design at UNC-G. During his breaks, he had the opportunity to serve on the crew for a few commercials and as a Casting Associate for the feature film Susie's Hope.
Shane also explored new ideas in computer animation.
Creative Director Dan A. R. Kelly spent most of 2012 devoted to the feature film Susie's Hope
, which he is proud to have co-written and produced. Co-written and directed by Jerry Rees
, and starring Emmanuelle Vaugier, Burgess Jenkins and Andrea Powell, the film will be pursuing theatrical distribution in 2013. Please visit the website at SusiesHope.com
to learn more about the movie! Dan also worked as a crewmember on The Hallmark Channel's The Confession
and several commercials. Dan continued his MFA studies in Screenwriting at Hollins University
, where he had the privilege of working with UCLA's Tim Albaugh
. As part of his summer semester, Dan wrote, shot and edited a student film, "Car Jacked," which is now an official selection at the NewFilmmakers NY
Shot as a dogme-style comedy, the film's crew consisted of Matthew Mandarano and Shane Smith as Cameramen, Jon Fredette as the Composer, Xoey HAWK (WitP's Artistic Director) as an advisor, and the occasional help from the actors. The actors, all of whom gave outstanding performances, were Tom Barker, Tommy Trull, Lisa Sain Odom, Naoma Eris Kelly and Alex Acuff.
You can see the film at the Courthouse Theater of Anthology Film Archives, 32 Second Ave (at 2nd Street), NYC at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 9th.
